I wanted to try my hand at a cruciform column without exposed welds or fasteners. The most famous use of a cruciform column, I believe, is by Mies van der Rohe in his Barcelona Pavilion. This particular implementation uses steel angle with solid rods plug welded and ground flush. A brass sleeve was added to provide material contrast.
